From the Funny Farm...

For some reason this didn't post on Monday. So I am posting it late Thursday night....Sorry about it...don't know wy.
Hope you all survived the weekend. My weekend was busy...too much to do and so little time. Just want to reassure each of you that I will continue to post to my blog. I want to keep in touch with each of you!!

You wouldn't believe what I went to this weekend. The Roller Derby...a woman's team, too!! Yes, it exists and it exists in Louisville. It is much different than what I say in my younger days. I am not sure it the actually "game" was more interesting or if it was all those attending. It was a bizarre crowd. If you get a chance to see it do!

This is a card I made with an image and saying by Artistic Outpost. The pattern paper is by Colorbok and it is embellished with mini brads by Makin Memories.

Enjoy!

Big Announcement...

I have a big announcement to make! I have known for quite some time that I haven't been entirely happy with what I have been doing with my art. It really became evident when I had my knee replacement surgery...had too much time to think! Even though at the time I realized how unhappy I was and that I needed a change I still wasn't ready to do anything about it then. Well the time finally came and I just knew I had to! I know you all sensed my unhappiness and still you stuck with me!

With that said... I have accepted the position as Advertising Manager with Hearts In Touch. I am excited and really looking forward to what this position will bring. As far as the designing, I have done it for years and am ready to take a break. Doing this position will allow me to be involved in stamping and will give me time to really get back to doing the art I want without having to meet deadlines. It will be quite a change.

I will still be here posting and who knows I just might post a masterpiece (LOL).

Road Trip...

Good "Monday" Morning!! Yesterday was Father's Day and I hope that you were able to spend it with your father celebrating the day. I do know some of us have fathers that are no longer with us. My father passed away in 1997 and I think about him a lot...Father's Day and his birthday always bring extra thoughts of him to mind on these days. I hope you were able to be with your father and that it was a special day for him. My father may not be here physically but is here in spirit. Happy Father's Day!!

This card was created with an image and saying by Artistic Outpost. The pattern paper is by My Minds Eye and the gray cardstock is done with the CuttleBug Houndstooth embossing folder. The flourish sticker is by EK Success.

All Star...

Happy Friday!! I am soooo glad that it is Friday! Let's see what is so wonderful about it....well my mom is out of town for a little over the week and I have the house to myself. Lots of time to create without interruption. In fact, today is the first day in 3 weeks that I have had hours of creating.
Plus, I am cooking dinner for a guy I am dating and hope I don't burn it! Seriously, I hope it will be a good evening.

The card I created is with images by Artistic Outpost. The pattern paper is Basic Grey. The card is embellished with brown mini brads and an "All Star" dome sticker by K&Company.

Delight...

Hope you are having a fantastic week so far. For me, this week is flying by just too darn fast. I know that is the way it is. Something I discovered a few days ago is that I have been in a terrible funk... I think it started about 4-5 weeks ago. I am not sure if I shared this with you. I will now but promise to not go into it too much.

About 4-5 weeks ago a close friend of mine passed away. Lisa committed suicide. I understand why she did, forgive her for doing so, and think I am not mad at her. Interestingly enough someone pointed out to me Sunday that I seem to be carrying the world on my shoulders and have been horribly tense. I have noticed that whatever has me in a funk has affected my art something terrible. I don't feel as though I am on top of things and not as creative. Hopefully over time things will finally settle down and I will get back to my old self. I just wanted you to know that if you feel or noticed something different about me, I finally have noticed it, too.

I created this card using an image by Inkadinkado and pattern paper by Paper Pizazz. The "Delight" embellishment by K&Company and brads by Making Memories. A simple, bright card!!!

Enjoy!

Blog Award...

A friend and fellow design team member of Artistic Outpost, Robin, gave me this award and I truly appreciate her thinking of me. Please stop by and check out her blog. Robin is an incredible artist and I hope you like her art as much as I do!!

Along with the award comes the follow task. I must list 10 things about myself and then pass it on to 7 others. Hmmm...here it goes...

1. I am a perfectionist. Not only do I like things to be perfectly I like my world to be orderly.

2. I have 2 brothers. We do not speak to each other nor do we see each other. Such a sad situation.

3. My favorite colors are purple and orange.

4. I am OCD about white tennis shoes. If I even get a spot on them I have to was them!!

5. I love motorcycles. There is nothing like riding!!!! If I could I would buy one!

6. I am a Diet Coke drinker...I drink it all day longer!

7. Born in Kansas

8. I am the only one in the my family with blue eyes.

9. I have lived in 5 states and went to 17 different schools between kindergarten and my senior year.

10. When I was 6 years old I had hair that was 36 inches long.

Here are the 7 people I am sending this award. Well deserved I might add!!

The Right Direction....

Happy Friday!! I do hope your week has gone great. Big plans for the weekend? Hope they include some stamping time!

As you may recall I am taking calligraphy classes and each week I show a lot of improvement. Calligraphy is done with ink on plain paper or paper with a created background added to it. There are a few created backgrounds that ink will bleed into the paper as soon as the pen hits the paper. In other words, it becomes a blob rather than a beautiful looking letter. Besides ink, I am learning to write with gouache which is a form of watercolor paint. My frustration with it is that I can't seem to get the consistency right and I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. If anyone out there has any idea why or can give me an idea of what to do, please let me know. I have my class Saturday morning and if I don't figure it out by then we will work on trying to figure out why I am having such a hard time.

Today's card is created using an image by Artistic Outpost. The pattern paper is by Sandylion and I used the Cuttlebug to emboss the cardstock that is used as part of the layout. The silk flowers are by Prima and the green pearl brad is part of the Recollections embellishments.

Enjoy!!

Ever been there?

Have you ever been in a slump and seen your art suffer? I sure have!! Why? I am in a terrible slump! I am not going to write paragraph and paragraph of what is going on in my life right now, ask you to analyze what I have said, and then ask you to tell me what is wrong and what I should do. This is my way of letting you know that I know it comes through on my art and to apologize for it. I can't seem to pinpoint what is wrong but know that I will figure it out soon. I promise that I will come out of this slump and get back to posting the art that you all know (and I know) I am capable of doing. Hang in there with me!!

Farmer's Market Pear

Gosh it is Monday again! Can we pretend that it is still the weekend? Saturday I went to an air show up in Indianapolis and had a fantastic time. My only small complaint is that I got so sunburned...I am as red as a lobster! I had thought of uploading a card of a lobster but thought you would enjoy this card instead of a lobster!

I made this card for the Monday Mailer program at Stampers Corner. The image is a stamp from Club Stamp and one of my favorites. The paper is by Sandylion. I decided to keep the embellishing simple by using mini brads from Making Memories.

Enjoy!!!

Australia...

Hope that this finds each of your doing well today. I am off to an air show in Indianapolis. I am looking forward to the day out, the wonderful planes being showed, and being out in the sun!!

This is an ATC I created for a swap I am in. The group I belong to is an ATC swap group that is a high-end, by invitation only group, and I feel extremely lucky to be part of it. The theme for June is "Australia". I created this ATC for the swap with a collage image by Altered Pages. The kangaroo image is by Stampin Up and the pattern paper is by The Paper Studio. The kangaroo embellishment is one I made using a scrabble tile, kangaroo collage image by Altered Pages , the letter "K" image by Justrite, and several layers of Glossy Accents.

Enjoy!!!

Fly...

Over the weekend I was looking at the pattern paper that I have and saw the paper I used for this card. I think I may have had it for some time. For some reason it really stood out and said "Use Me". I hope that you can see why it spoke to me.

I created this card with an image from Hampton Arts. The pattern paper is by Frances Meyer and the flowers are by Prima. The gold brad is embossed with Embossing Tinsel by Ranger.

Enjoy!!

Mini Book cont...

Yahoo, we are half way through the week. I am sure that many of you have heard the saying "The older you get the faster time goes by!". So very true. No wonder it seems that I never can find enough time to do all that I need to do. Now my question is...anyone know of a way to slow time down? If you do, please let me know.

These are additional pages that are part of the mini book I created. The collage images are by Altered Pages. The stamp images are by Inka Stamps. The pattern paper scraps are from Cosmo Cricket, My Minds Eye, etc. The pearl and jewel embellishments are by K&Company and the flowers are by Prima. The words are by Marcella and Softly Spoken.

Enjoy!!

Asian Pear...

I hope this finds you all doing well on this Monday! Did you have a good weekend? I had a fantastic weekend...the only think I didn't do was spend enough time in my art room working. But as they say "all work and no play makes for a very dull, boring gal". I am not sure if that is the real saying but it conveys my thoughts!

I made this card for our Monday Mailer program in my stamping group, Stampers Corner. This card is made with an image by Paper Inspiration. The pattern paper is by Sandylion and the ribbon is from Micheal's. The simplicity of this card adds to the overall beauty, don't you think!

Enjoy!!
